Welcome to West Place Animal Sanctuary
Located on an 8-acre historic farm property known as The Dr. Samuel West Place, and surrounded by approximately 700 acres of preserve old-growth woodlands (Weetamoe Woods) and pastures (Pardon Gray Preserve), West Place Animal Sanctuary, an IRS recognized non-profit organization, is ideally situated in the rural and agrarian community of South Tiverton, Rhode Island.
The mission of the West Place Animal Sanctuary is to provide housing, food and medical care for injured or orphaned wild birds, waterfowl and wild turkeys as well as unwanted farm animals. The West Place Animal Sanctuary provides both short-term and long-term care as necessary. West Place provides rehabilitation services for the ultimate release of the aforementioned wildlife, and provides placement services for farm animals whenever possible.
Many West Place animals are utilized for educational purposes and community service activities, events and projects, including A Country Day at Pardon Gray and Easter Egg Hunts organized by the Tiverton Land Trust. These civic engagement opportunities help the West Place educate the public about animal care, and about injured, disabled or abused animals and their abilities to recover, adapt and thrive in the wild or in the care of animal welfare organizations such as the West Place Animal Sanctuary.
The West Place Animal Sanctuary collaborates with and/or accepts animals from the following organizations:

- RI Sheep Cooperative
- MSPCA
- Eastern Conservation District of Rhode Island
- Tiverton Land Trust
- National Resources Conservation Services
- The Audubon Society (Bristol RI location)
The West Place volunteer and paid animal care assistants are trained and experienced and provide care for anywhere from 40 to 70 animals.
